Revell 03147 HMMWV M966 TOW Missile Carrier

Just a quick post from the progress of my project. I've painted this car with acrylic paint, gave it a wash (sepia) and then, it was something completely new for me, covered it with weathering powder. As you can see I'm not an expert in buiding this kind of things. I'm not happy how the decals came out on the pictures and I had an accident while I was doing the weathering powder. I pushed two windows out and couldn't replace them. So I will have to camouflage that making the final dio.

Tips, hints and other advice are always welcome for my next project!

Enjoy the pictures!

I hope you like them!

Welcome to my blog!!!!!

  2. I would love to give you a hint but as I have only made 2 kits so far, I am not sure how to help. But you could perhaps base coat and partially paint the parts before you assemble, then just fully paint up and weather, this should mean vulnerable areas like windows are not put under stress and forced in. perhaps that helps, anyway great model

    1. Thanks Gowan! I paint the parts before glueing them together. I think I have to use better glue or be more carefull when I use weathering powder.

  7. Nice build. Where are the windows now, the ones that fell out...inside the vehicle or outside?

    1. Thank Paul! First they were inside, but I managed to get them out. I did an attempt to replace them, but I stopped because I didn't want to damage the model.
You will not see much from it on the dio (wich is ready for sunday :-D). I managed to camouflage it.

  9. Hoi Peter, I have done some Hummer's as well lately (Revell's I believe) and I left the roofs separate so you could put things in and get them out again. That would help with the windows falling out.

This build looks awesome by the way and really desert-fit!

    1. Thanks Sander! And that's a good tip! I keep it in mind for the next time I build a model like this one.
In this set were two from this cars, this one and an ambulance. The last one has to wait!
