Crisis 2012 Purchase

Yesterday I went to the CRISIS meeting in Antwerp, Belgium. And as every year I spended some money on buying things. And as every year you start with a wishlist, and when you come home you have bought some things that wasn't on that list. But most of the time these are things you couldn't resist.

Let's start with the overview!

As every year when you enter and you have payed entrance you get a special figure of the event. This time it's a figure called "Peter Minuit", sculpted by Paul Sicks and moulded by Griffing Moulds. Thank you Crisis-team for another fine figure!

And now the purchases. First of all a 1/32 scale set where I was looking for some time now. It's the Italeri French Imperial General Staff. It costed some money but it's worth it.

Next is a set that was not complete (it missed the donkeys) but for "one" euro, it was more as a bargain! It's from Nexus, and it's the old re-issue from the Atlantic set "Davy Crockett".

Another 1/72 set I bought is the Zvezda  "Lifeguard Cossacks".

And now the things where I spended most of my monney on. These are 5 sets of the excellent Zinnfiguren Schilling "Retreat from Moscow" range. I also bought some loose figures of them, but they aren't shown on the pictures.

And to finish, I bought myself a 28 mm figure. I bought this with a special purpose. Here you see it in blue colour, but I will paint it pink for "Breast Cancer Fundraising " at the Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher blog. It's for the good cause, and I would like to give them a little help from my side. The figure is not a "Pulp City" figure, but every figure would do if it's painted pink.

It's from www.microartstudio.com and is called "Wolsung Lord James Foley". I will try to post a step by step WIP on my blog the following two weeks. It needs to be finished within 11 days, and as I'm not a specialist on this kind of figures, it will be a hard job for me.

I also bought some Valejo washes and some seperate figures, but no pictures of them. That's all folks! Pictures of CRISIS will follow later on this week.

Batteries of the camera are loaded, shopping list ready, a bag to put all the things in and a good mood! So I'm ready!

Revell English Archer

I've been naughty again! Found this one and some others when I was reorganising my stuff. These I gave to my oldest son, many many years ago. He wanted to paint soldiers just like his dad, but he was to young for the little ones. So I gave him the English 100 Years War soldiers and French Knights. He started them to paint but never finished them. This is the first one I cleaned and repainted.

Abandoned kubelwagen with smoking figure

This time a short post with some pictures of a kubelwagen, wich you can hardly see. The model is completely from resin and it includes one figure smoking a cigarette. The scale is 1/72.

It joined the competition at the meeting in Mol, Belgium, but it didn't win a price.

The set is from FBMinis - Braille Scale Models a fellow blogger, who makes this kind of models as a hobby. Have a visit at his blog, he has some other interesting sets for offer.

Drinking on duty?

I'll kick him!

That was the title of a contribution in the duelling section on Benno's Figure Forum . It was a duel against  Paul from Paul's Bods. And you know what? I won! Yeah!

Fairness is that I have to tell that the contribution was also very good and funny. You can have a look at it here!

The rules were:

- Two figures
- One or both kicking
- Little scene
- Two pictures.

Fact is we wanted to make something funny, and get people to laugh. I think we managed in our objective. But decide for yourself and have a look at it!

Caesar 105 Goblins

After the giant in the previous post, it's time to go back to my normal scale, 1/72. Well not completely. These guys are a bout 15 mm high. So they are small for this scale. There are about 40 figures in a box and they come in 10 poses. They painted real easy, because they don't have many details. I used goblin green as base colour, and gave them two layers. After that started painting the details and covered them with a mud wash. Finished!

And now they're ready to hunt! The hunt for a "Hobbit"!

Italeri Set 316 Part 1

For who expected some small figures, I have to dissepoint you. I made a move to, for me at least, the dark side of moddeling. Yes, I painted a 1/35 scale figure! And you know what? It was fun! :-D

What happened? Well while I was cleaning up my moddeling stuff, I found this box. And it started talking to me, make me, paint me! So that's what I did, and here you can see the first result.

The set includes 2 motorcycles, 2 drivers and 2 standing figures. Today it's one of the standing figures. New for me is also, I painted for the first time eyes on a figure. I used a technique I've seen somewhere. Firtst I painted the face brown, then the eyes with bleeched bone and a black dot. After that I painted the face with dwarf flesh and elf flesh paint. I finished it with a flesh wash. All paints used are from Games Workshop. I'm curious to hear what you think of it.
