Crescent - French Foreign Legion

Here are two of the six poses that exist from this Crescent French Foreign Legion figures. I've painted them in blue and white while these normally have red trousers. I just wanted them to fit with my other FFL figures of Timpo, Britains and a Starlux copy that I have painted. I hope you like them.

Britains French Foreign Legion Trumpeter

And not a copy this time but the real stuff. Okay he needed some new help to stand up but now he is as good as new. Painted him in the same colors as the other French Foreign Legion I've painted. 

Here is how he looked before my brushes touched him. I like my blue much better and I think it is also more realistic. I hope you like him.

Starlux French Foreign Legion Officer (Copy)

This time it is a Starlux copy figure I gave a better look.  The sculpting of this figure isn't that good but I tried to make the best of it. I've seen this figure in brown and green colors, but I decided to give him the blue and white uniform. It might be not historical correct but so he fits better with my other figures of the Frenc Foreign Legion of Timpo I painted. I kept it very simple and I hope you like him.

I've painted the Timpo FFL figures in this post: Timpo 9507 French Foreign Legion. I repainted their hats from blue into white, because that was a mistake I made.

Timpo 9507 French Foreign Legion

After finishing the Timpo Arabs it had no doubt that I had to paint the French Foreign Legion to. When I had a look at these I found out that only one figure didn't have some small damage. Nevertheless I decided to paint them anyway. And I find they turned out well. I choosed to paint these 54mm figures in the colors we mostly see when we talk about the French Foreign Legion. Seeing this uniform they actually need a sand colored uniform. But I like the blue and white! Here they are:

On this one it is not so clear because you don't see
something broken.

Maybe some will say that I was a bit lazy because I didn't try to fix the missing parts, but I was afraid to do some more damage on the figures. Anyway, I hope you like them.

Timpo 9506 Arabs

It took me some time, but finally I could finish these Arabian warriors from Timpo. This was something new for me because I only used a wash for the skin and the gun. All other parts are painted from dark to light, by using different colors or adding a bit of white. I like the end result also after seeing the pictures. I will for sure use this technique on more figures.

I must say that these figures have very nice details. And the sculpting of the clothes helpt a lot to find out what had to be dark and what to be light. As said the brand is Timpo and the figures are 54mm high. Pity that there are only four poses. A few more would have been better.

Happy New Year!

I wish you all a good and healthy 2014, and may all your wishes come true.

It's been a while since I posted something here on my blog, but I had a very busy time during the winter hollidays. That's what you get when you are a former cook, so I was the one who cooked the Christmas dinner. In fact I did it two days one a rowe. I will not bother you with the details but it took me some days for organising it.

Second thing is I was working on my hobby room. Now it's almost finished, and just a few things have to be done, before I take some pictures and show it to you all. If all goes well I will have the last piece of furniture that I'm missing tomorrow. More about this later on this month.

I also spended one day at the hospital, because I needed some small surgery on my left ear. That was two days before the new year. Bad planning I know, but it had to be done. The risk for ear infections was to big. Now that is solved.

But I think I was a good boy in 2013, because Santa didn't forget me. He brought me some nice things and made my mountain of plastic grow again.

The first thing is a box from good old Airfix. They are reissuing the old sets from when I was young. These Australian Infantry from WW2. I used to have these, but I've lost them. Now I have them back. They are in a harder plastic as the first ones, but they still look fantastic, and it will be a joy to paint them.

Next is a small box of the Art of Tactic sets from Zvezda. Really nice figures to make a small vignette. And always good when I want to do something in between.

Then there was a box of Italeri with the French Foreign Legion in it. Actually these figures are original from Esci, but Italeri brought them back on the market.

The next things I purchased myself but had to land under the Christmas tree. It was an agreement I had to make with my wife, or she didn't give me the permission to purchase them at e-bay.

It was an old lot of figures and buildings from Atlantic I was after and the price was very low when I jumped in bidding. I won the bid of course, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this.

The package contains figures of the following sets: Buffalo Bill, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson and Gold Rush. From these sets there was one sprue each. But the best things I show you with some pictures.

Abilene City:

Sioux Camp. I still miss one figure of this set. The other figures I purchased at CRISIS last year.

Outlaws and Sheriffs. A very rare set. And it was the main reason, together with the town houses, I started bidding. And they are in excellent shape. These figures were several times in the package. I didn't count them but there are a lot of them. One figure I don't show here. If you want to see the whole set, have a look here.

To complete the whole thing I also received some brushes (sorry Fran!) and paints. So you see that Santa (and my wife!) were very good for me.
