CRISIS 2013 pictures!

It took me some time, but as I mentioned in my previous post I visited the CRISIS 2013 convention at Antwerp Belgium. It was also the place to meet some old and new friends. From the Benno's Figures Forum, I've met Benno, Remco, Jurian, Konrad, Markus, Martin, Johan, Pierce, Jan, Peter, Jörg and Ulrike Schilling. From some Blogs I've met Sofie, Mario, Sidney and Stefan. And I missed a lot more of them as you can see on their blogs. I will put the links on the end of this posts!

Here they are the pictures. Not all very clear, seems to me I had some problems with my camera or maeby their was to much smoke of the hamburgers.

Martin, Konrad, Benno, Remco and Jurian!

Found this nice! So I couldn't resist taking a picture of it!

Tomorrow: CRISIS 2013!

Tomorrow it is again so far. I will be visiting the biggest War Games event in Belgium. It's always a joy to see what great tables there are, and more important to me the figures that are on them. You must know I'm not a wargamer, but that doesn't mean that I'm not interested. Pictures of the 2012 show can be seen here.
More information of this years show can be found here.

As always I take the opportunity to meet some fellow bloggers and have a chat with them them. One of them is Stefan from Monty's Caravan, who's giving a big "Give Away" on his blog. More information can be seen here: Part 1 and Part 2. Yes two parts and some very interesting stuff in it! Stefan will be there as a member from "Team fur Historische Simulationen".

Another "Give Away" that is up and running is from Pascal. My French friend can be visited here.

And we don't stop! Here's another one. This one is from Andrew Saunders. Visit his blog here.

Back to CRISIS. Another one I like to meet is Sidney from "To Fat Lardies".  I couldn't meet him last year because he had to work. I hope he will be there tomorrow.

Some others I would like to meet are Sofie and Mario. Click on their names to see their blogs!

And for the ones I didn't mention and like to meet me I will be at the Schilling Figuren stand from 12.30 untill 13.30 hour. We have a meeting there with the members of the Benno's Figures Forum. Since some time this forum is open for all scales and not for 1/72 and smaller scales only anymore. You're always welcome to join us and show your work also over there. PS: I will be wearing a T-shirt with some kind of Napoleon on it.

As every year you get a special figure when you visit the show. This how the model looks this year.

Interesting figure isn't it?

And this is the place to be tomorrow.

Well that's it for now folks. Next week the pictures of the event.

Thank you, Ian!

Some weeks ago I took part on the "Give Away" on The Blog With No Name from Ian. He was doing this, and i will use his own words: "Well it's finally here, the blogs first post ever was exactly two years ago today and this my friends is the 500th post in those two years. I'd like to think they landed at the same time by carefull planning but accident had more influence than design. But such milestone can not go without some form of celebration so lets get started with....." The rest of his text and pictures you can read here. I first joined in for some brushes. But as a man called Ray (you know that man from "Don't throw a 1") wanted them to so we had to look for something else.

Lucky enough for me Ian added something to the "Give Away" and that one catched my eye. The fantastic figure from "Salute 2011". A Confederate Cavalry man from the American Civil War. Okay it's a 28mm figure, but I've painted some others, so I had a go for it. And guess what, I won it.

Doesn't he look fantastic?

Actually he's on the painting table, but no pictures of that yet. I will show him when he is finished. Just to show what a beautifull sculpt this is some more pictures.

But this isn't the end of this story. As we were sharing some information by e-mail, we started talking about the 6mm figures, which he paint. Excellent by the way! I talked him about a little project I wanted to do (can't say here what it is, the wrong person could read it!), and asked him what the best figures were in 6mm. Then he offered me some figures and sended them together with the Salute figure to me. Just have a look what he sended me!

Seven Napoleonic Officers on horse!

They even have seperate arms! In that in 6mm!

The big man himself!

For this figures I made him a promise. If he ever need some 1/72 scale figures, he first have to ask me. And I will do everything to help him. Even when I don't have them myself! Don't forget it Ian!

SO A BIG THANK YOU IAN FOR SENDING ME THESE FIGURES!!!!!!

I also have to announce some new followers:

Peter's Cave Part 1

Today I present you the first pictures of my "Man Cave". It was a lot work and it's not finished yet. Still have to reorganise a lot of things, but that's for later.  The room is about 3 by 4 meters. Not much but enough for me. I let the pictures speak for theirselfe.

DVD collection and som 54 mm figures.

Shelves attached to the wall.

Model kits and scenery boxes.

What do you think about it so far?

I also want to welcome a "couple" of new followers. They are man and wife and have both their own painting blog. Here they come:

Warhammer Ellyrian Reaver

This is the third, and for this moment the last one I've painted from this range. For who started following this blog later, I first painted a Skaven Clanrat and then a High Elf Swordmaster of Hoeth. Problem to paint this figure was that it was assembled and I could't undo that. If I had done that, it would be damaged. So it was very difficult to paint some parts of this figure. I've used as much as possible the colour scheme of the High Elf, so they would fit together.

Have a look at the pictures:

I hope you like it!

And here I want to end this post with some sad news. This week, on October 1st, Tom Clancy passed away. He was one of my favorite writers. He also created some board and video games. Red Storm Rising is one of them. Some of the wargamers amongst you will know the game. Who wants to read more of this man can find it here. Thank you Tom for all the fine moments you gave me with your books!

R.I.P. Tom!

Nikolai Muezzin and scholars

Again some nice sculpted figures from Erik Trauner. This time the muezzin and scholars! I've painted one earlier for my Somewhere in Arabia diorama.

The figures can be found by Germania Figuren. And Michael launched some good news. The female figures of this range will be availeble next month. You can see and read about them here. They look beautifull!

Now some pictures!

This one is used in the Somewhere in Arabia diorama.
I hope you like them!

Hat 8271 Dervish Warriors

Paul, I did it! I have painted them! After more as a year that they were lying around here, I've painted this excellent set from Hat! Hardest part was to paint the white. But I managed. First one layer of white, then a grey wash over it and repainted the upper parts of the figure again with white. Do they look good? For me yes. But for you others?

Have a look at the pictures and let me know what you think.

8 poses in this set

Guns!

Spears!

Hadendowah Infantry!

I hope you like them!
