Arnhem Groupe Build Project Part 2

Here is the progress on this project I did so far. Not very much at this moment because I had some problems with painting the figures. I tried to paint them with of a lot of drybrushing but I wasn't happy with the result. The one I"m showing now is better in my eyes.

Excuse me for not so good pictures but I didn't take them in daylight and my camera is getting a bit old. I think it's about time to look for a new one.

First I started with the checkpoint cabine. I used one color of brown and gave the roof a black wash and the sides a devlan mud wash. I'm thinking to do a slight drybrush with some dark grey. What do you think?

Here I sorted out all the parts needed. I didn't do the barrier yet. That is something for the next days.

Some pictures of the cabine with an English soldier I painted in 2014 in one of the duels on Benno's Figures Forum.

And here is one of the volunteers that will take place on the tank. I used the Revell color scheme to paint him and finished him with a Sepia Wash. It looks better as with drybrushing. I'm curious about your opinion.

Pinned them!

White undercoat!

Finished figure front!

Finished figure back!

Finished figure left side!

Finished figure right side!
He really looks better in real. As said bad pictures. I hope to make some better ones next time. Now I will start with the tank. And together with the barrier I can start making the base. The figures on the tank will depend on how much time I have left.

And now again some promotion for the event. Maybe I can convince some people to pass by on this day.

Jean Höfler Figures 2

As my good friend Paul from BB's Blog asked, I present another cowboy from this range. I used another color scheme as I did on the other one. He can be seen here. You can also find some more blabla and information when you use that link.

Just an announcement, but I have put all the 1/32 and 1/35 figures under the label 54mm here on my blog. It makes the overview a bit better.

Well here he is:

The nose is a bit damaged but that is caused by an American Native indian! You can see it better on the last picture!

I hope you like him!

I also have a question. Can someone confirm me when he visits this blog that the warning appears that this blog use cookies? I see it on almost all other blogs that I visit, but I can't see it on my own blog. Please clear this out for me. Thank you.

Revell 30 Years War Figures

The figures I'm showing today are from two sets of Revell. They are from the Revell set 02556 Imperial Infantry and the Revell set 02557 Swedish Infantry. I painted them for English Civil War purpose. Like many other painted figures of me they go in a box for later use. Maybe one day, when I painted enough figures of this period I'll make a dio with them.

The lances are Original like they came out of the box. I gave them a point so they would look more like lances. Historical they aren't right, because they should be much longer. But you know me, I'm a lazy person, so I refused to replace them!

Pity that there is only one figure in this pose in a box. Can you imagen a whole square with this figures? Must be awesome!

Sorry for the not so clear pictures, but I think it is beginning to be urgent that I buy me a new one! I hope you like them!

And in the mean time I'm still working on my Arnhem project. The checkpoint is painted and now I'm busy with the figures. But later on this week more news about that.

Mercator

While I'm working on the Arnhem Group Build Project I will show some figures I painted in the almost one year I wasn't actice at Blogger.

This was the Crisis 2011 figure. He is best known for his work in cartography, in particular the world map of 1569 based on a new projection which represented sailing courses of constant bearing as straight lines. He was the first to use the term "atlas" for a collection of maps.

I painted this figure for the painting competition on 2015 FIGZ meeting. I won third price with it! Just a joke because there were only two prizes to win!

It was a joy to paint this figure. A bit bigger as my normal 20 mm figures, as this is a 28 mm figure, and for that reason a bit more difficult because of the details that are better visible. The painting scheme is taken from a picture I found somewhere on the WWW. The brown globe should be historical correct as can be seen in the Wiki link.

I hope you like him.

Arnhem Groupe Build Project Part 1

After a long absence I'm starting up my blog again. I will not give the reasons why it took so long because it were to many. It doesn't mean I wasn't active, but it gave me some time to paint some things, which were laying to long aside.

FIGZ

Wargaming & miniatures event in the Netherlands

Sunday 5 June 2016, Arnhem (NL)

This event is organised for the 10th time. Not always under the same name or the same location, but it is the yearly meeting from the members of the Benno's Figures Forum. And for the second time on a row there will be a Group Build Project. In 2015 the subject was "Waterloo". Pictures from the event and the 2015 project can be seen HERE!

This years subject is called "Road to Arnhem". The members are free to choose the period, but it has to be on a road. I can say some of us have very good ideas and fantasy. The progress of the project can be seen HERE!

As I live on the border between Belgium and the Netherlands, and where Operation Market Garden started, I decided to build a small dio about a tank passing that border. Rules are a dio not bigger as 10 by 10 cm and a road. Here is what I will use for this project.

The base is MDF 4mm.

Base 10 by 10 cm and 4mm thick!
To show the border I will use this small building from the 6130 Italeri set. Maeby I will add an American Guard with it, but I'm not sure at this moment.

Checkpoint!

For the tank I took the 03211 Revell Sherman Firefly. This is the old Matchbox kit reissued by Revell. It is 1/76 scale but I think it will no problem with the scenery and the figures. it will be painted as a tank from the 2nd Battaillon Coldstream Guards.

I was happy when Revell brought this back on the market!

And last I will put some figures from the 8264 Hat British Tank Riders on the tank. Don't know how many at this moment, that will depend on how much time I have to paint them.

11 Poses. Now see how many will be painted at the end of this project!

So folks this is it for now. I hope I can soon show you some pictures of the project and keep you informed about the progress.

Thanks for looking. Questions and suggestions are always welcome!

Jean Höfler Figures 1 and Ray's 500th post

Some of the older followers of my blog will recognize this figure for sure. The younger ones amongst you maybe not. This fellow is one of the oldest figures I have in my collection. I played with this kind of figures when I was a kid and also did my grown sons. I painted a lot of the cowboys as cavalry figures for the kids, but now I decided to paint them again in various outfits. Here is the first of many I hope. The painting of these figures will go on on irregular base. Let's say when I'm in the mood. Not only the figures are asking to be repainted but also a little town and fort of this range.

I have my inspiration from this webside: http://www.figuren.miniatures.de/jean-hoefler-421-cowboys.html. And if you want to see how the whole collection looks like, then have a look here: http://www.angelfire.com/biz/toysoldierhq/Jean.html.

I'm always looking on fleemarkets and second hand stores to find more of these figures. My latest purchase were six knights for half an euro. Good deal!

Enjoy the pictures!

There was something else I was supposed to talk about??? Oh yes, Ray's 500th post on his blog. The good man is organizing a Blog Give Away on his blog for this occasion. He also asked what the best post was on his blog. For me that was for sure the one where Ray won a set of brushes on another blog give away. The same brushes that his good friend Fran wanted to win. In one of his following post Ray gave them to Fran, but they weren't good anymore. Looks like chewed on them before. Made me laugh a lot.
You want to see and read more about the give away, then give his blog Don't throw a 1 a visit! Up to your next 500 post Ray! Congrats!

FIGZ 2015 Special Waterloo Project

One of the members of Benno's Forum came up with an idea to make this years meeting something special in rememberence of the Battle of Waterloo 200 years ago. He called it: "The Bennos Figures Forum Waterloo Project or short the BFFFWP".

Main thing is he wants to make a rather big diorama with figures from different manufacturers and painted by as many as possible, members of the forum. I must say that he had big responce and the project is at this moment in his final stage.

The diorama will be shown for the first time at the meeting in Arhnem. More information about the meeting can be found here: http://www.figz.nl/ .

More information about how the project is going can be found here and some pictures of the painted figures, here.

So if you don't know what to do on the 7th of June, come and give us a visit in Arnhem! Hope to see you over there!

The next figure was my contribution for the project. He is the Chief of staff from the Prussian Army, Gneisenau. This metal figure is from Art Miniaturen. I hope you like him.
